PEACE: South Sudan
History:
First Baptist Church Coppell is proud to partner with and help plant First Baptist Church Kagwada, South Sudan. This relationship started in 2008 through the efforts of Karlis Gruzins and E3 Ministry Partners. Kagwada is about 40 miles from Juba, the capitol of Southern Sudan. In January 2012 a team went and was able to assess more of their present and future needs.
Present Opportunities:
The School-
Currently we are looking at how to partner with FBC Kagwada as they educate their community. They currently have a preschool program and are looking at to expand through primary school. Many of the children this age in the community are unschooled or are sent away from their families to live at school in the cities. Our prayer is to reunite families and provide hope for the next generation in Kagwada.
We will be providing the church with scholarships for those who cannot afford tuition. Tuition goes to pay for training materials, 1 meal a day, and teachers salary. Currently it only cost $10 per month for a child to attend. If you'd like to give, you can do so by giving online and choosing Missions- Sudan. For other questions you can contact Nathan Christianson at nathan@widowbird.org.
The Well-
In 2010, the children of FBC Coppell helped to raise $2500 to have a well drilled at FBC Kagwada. In 2012, this well is finally going to be dug. With the time that has pasted the prices have gone up on this and is now $4000. If you would like to give and help offset the extra cost of this well you can do so by giving online and choosing Missions-Sudan.
Future Opportunities:
As the church begins to grow and as the school pays for itself, it can begin to focus on other opportunities to bring sustainable and reproducible mirco-enterprising opportunities and programs to the are. These may include a vocational school, chicken coops, animal co-ops, and much more.
