To fully experience FBC Coppell you must be in a life group. Here at FBC Coppell we have life groups that meet throughout the week in homes, business, and coffee shops as well as Sunday mornings on campus.

What is a life group?

In its simplest form, a life group is defined as a "gathering of people to grow spiritually.” Life groups meet on campus on Sunday mornings and in homes, offices, and coffee shops throughout the week. The average size of a small group is 6-10 people.

What can I expect during a life group meeting?

Most groups start with a time of fellowship. The host or members may serve a snack and just ask everyone how their week went. There is also a study portion. This is done by video or from a curriculum. After the video or study there is a discussion time using question in your study guide to review and apply the principles from the study. Then most groups end by taking prayer requests and praises.

Can I invite people who don't attend FBC Coppell?

Absolutely! Invite your friends, neighbors, family members, coworkers, and casual acquaintances to your small group gathering and help fill them in on what life groups are all about.

What about childcare?

When it comes to how to handle childcare with your group there are several options. The host will choose which option applies best to their group.

1. Have the individual or couple take care of their own childcare needs.

2. Getting a sitter to watch the children at the host home. Those in the group with children will need to share the cost of the sitter(s) accordingly.

3. Group members can take turns watching the children at the host home.

4. Children can stay and be included in the study.

5. We are offering a new option where if the parents choose they can have a student come and teach the children during the life group time. Please contact Charley Hellmuth, if you are interested in this at chellmuth@fbccoppell.org.

What do groups study?

Each group can choose their own curriculum. There is a list of suggested studies that can be gotten from the church. Just email Shawn at sbettes@fbccoppell.org to obtain that list. There are also studies available for check out and purchase in the church library which is open on Sunday mornings before and after the service.

How do I host a group?

Hosting a life group is easy. The requirements are that you have a heart for people, open your home (or business or plan a time at a local coffee shop), serve a snack (or ask people to bring one), and turn on a DVD. If you can do this, you can host! Just fill out a repsonse card in service and check the box saying you’d like to host. We will contact you and walk you through next steps.

Do I need to be a “Bible Expert” to host a group?

Definitely not! All you need is a desire to serve the members of your group and to grow in your personal relationship with Jesus Christ. When you take this step of faith, the Holy Spirit will give you what you need to be an effective host. The DVD will do all the expert teaching you need. We’ll let you know where you can get DVD/video curriculum. We’ll also help with additional training and coaching.
