Developing One Tomorrow... Today!
In the last 113 years First Baptist Church has called many buildings home, each making a statement to the community of that day. Until recently the plan was to move across Denton Tap and make a permanent home for the church. A bold, but God honoring move was made to sell that land and make our current location our future location. After selling the land, we were able to purchase the retail space adjacent to our current land, a proven investment. Now as we claim this land for the future, there are some changes that need to happen in its footprint to prepare it and us for what God is doing in this community through First Baptist Church Coppell. There are 4 projects that will comprise this development initiative and help us to develop not only the spaces, but lives for the Kingdom.
Worship Center Renovations:
The goal of our services is to bring people closer to Jesus through worship, prayer, and learning from the Word of God. Currently we have some struggles that hinder our pursuit: clarity, coverage, consistency, and control. As an example, currently the sound is three times louder when sitting in the front of the worship center as it is in the back. This renovation will add intelligibility to the lyrics and music, allow every seat to have even volume, and give greater efficiency to balancing out the sound. This can be accomplished with a new speaker system, microphones, and some acoustic treatments.
The Student Center:
The Student Center renovation will provide an environment in which students will want to hang out. It will be a perfect place for students to connect with one another and their friends thus creating an environment that encourages them to be who they were created to be. On scheduled weeknights, students can receive free tutoring, counseling, and biblical encouragement. In addition to being a great “hang/homework place” during the week, the Student Center will also be used for small groups and all other student ministry meeting times. There will be no other place like the Student Center in Coppell! Anytime the doors are open, students will be cared for, encouraged, and equipped to handle and thrive in life as a teenager. We love students, we love God, we want students to love God... The Student Center will help to accomplish this great goal.
Children’s In-door Playground:
With the students finding a new home, we will be converting our current youth space into an activity rich, themed, indoor playground for kids. This is going to be a fully customized one-of-a-kind interactive environment like none other around. Inside the space will be a multilevel play area for children, a toddler specific playground, and a seating area for parents. This entire space will be open to and available for the community. It can also be used for birthdays and other children’s activities. We believe that God will use this exciting project to deepen our connection to the community and engage our children in a whole new way.
Facade Re-imaging:
The most visible change to the over 40,000 vehicles that travel Denton Tap Rd everyday will be a facade change at the front of the property. The creation of a main entrance into the facility will help to better welcome guests and allow them to navigate the space with ease. The updated look and feel for the church building will also make a bold statement to the community of the changes and direction we are heading as one church body. It will truly be like nothing else here in Coppell!
The goal for the Developing One Tomorrow... Today! initiative is $800,000. We are seeking to reach this goal with a combination of one-time gifts and two year pledges. You can GIVE NOW by clicking HERE.
