</p>Church Family,<br><br>Just 10 days ago our Mayor, Jane Peters, stood on our stage in our July 4th service as we presented her with a plaque committing to pray for her as she leads. Just yesterday a church member approached me saying that he prayed for our Mayor on a daily basis. As of now, you have probably already heard that she and her daughter were found in their home lifeless yesterday evening. Her daughter Corinne was 19 and had just graduated from Coppell High School.<br><br>This is sudden and shocking news to all of us. It has shaken the whole community. As we find ourselves in the midst of this crisis, what should we do? As God’s people, we should continue to do exactly what we committed to do on July 4th. We should continue to pray. Pray for the Mayor’s family. Pray for our city council. Pray for our city manager and church council member Clay Phillips. Pray for our church and pray for our community.<br><br>In my personal Bible Study yesterday, one of the passages was Psalm 83:1 where we read, “God, do not keep quiet; God, do not be silent or still.” It is my prayer that during this time, you and the rest of our community would look toward God and recognize the gentle leading of His spirit. God is never silent nor still and in times such as this. He desires to be seen and shared with others by His children. There is great hope in this life and in eternity through Jesus Christ. </p>Church Family,<br><br>Just 10 days ago our Mayor, Jane Peters, stood on our stage in our July 4th service as we presented her with a plaque committing to pray for her as she leads. Just yesterday a church member approached me saying that he prayed for our Mayor on a daily basis. As of now, you have probably already heard that she and her daughter were found in their home lifeless yesterday evening. Her daughter Corinne was 19 and had just graduated from Coppell High School.<br><br>This is sudden and shocking news to all of us. It has shaken the whole community. As we find ourselves in the midst of this crisis, what should we do? As God’s people, we should continue to do exactly what we committed to do on July 4th. We should continue to pray. Pray for the Mayor’s family. Pray for our city council. Pray for our city manager and church council member Clay Phillips. Pray for our church and pray for our community.<br><br>In my personal Bible Study yesterday, one of the passages was Psalm 83:1 where we read, “God, do not keep quiet; God, do not be silent or still.” It is my prayer that during this time, you and the rest of our community would look toward God and recognize the gentle leading of His spirit. God is never silent nor still and in times such as this. He desires to be seen and shared with others by His children. There is great hope in this life and in eternity through Jesus Christ.
